Dome Lens for Underwater Photography: Overview and Advantages
Feb. 28, 2022
Domes make it better underwater
Domes help correct for aberrations that occur in water photography because light changes speed as it passes through water rather than air. Domes provide better results than flat ports, especially for split (half up, half down) lenses, and make it easier to obtain separation, as well as more "spectacular" separation. While dome ports don't take anything away from your above-water work, their impact or difference on the surface is irrelevant. Domes are ideal for staggered layers and underwater work.
Size matters
In short, bigger is optically better for a number of reasons. But it is heavier, bulkier and more expensive than a smaller dome. If image integrity and results are a major concern, choose a larger dome (180 mm dome diameter). If portability and ease of use are paramount, the smaller dome (1200 mm dome diameter) will give you great "bang for your buck".
Glass is optically superior
Glass domes are optically superior to plastic or acrylic and are less prone to scratching.
Universal fit protects your investment
Glass domes are designed to fit any/all lenses. The domes are universal - they are all universal - and work with adapters for threaded (filter thread size) lenses and clips for fisheye, hood or non-threaded lenses. This way, both/any of the domes fit allies/any current and future lenses. This design protects your investment and optimizes your usability and upgradeability over time. The Dome KIT comes with any of the adapter or clamp sizes you specify in your order. You can add additional dome adapters and/or clamp pages. Get as many dome adapters or clamps as possible.
Additional Information
Photography and content creation is subjective, so results depend on many factors, including camera, lens, settings, environmental and lighting conditions, proximity to the subject, angle, and other factors. Different users can produce very different results under the same conditions, all other factors being equal, and vice versa. Experienced photographers can use "basic" equipment to deliver excellent results, while beginners may not be able to use "more advanced" equipment to optimize the right variables. This means that interference is minimal and unnoticed, so the photographer can achieve what she wants, regardless of the housing. Because the CLZ case allows full control and access to all functions of the camera and lens, the

Dome 180mm (180mm diameter)
The CLZ's largest dome makes it better/easier to capture the results you want in underwater and staggered shots. It improves clarity, aberration, focus and makes your camera and lens easier to operate in water conditions/environments. It corrects or eliminates most underwater aberrations and makes it easier for most cameras and lenses to find focus, provide clarity and use in water.
