Infrared communication is a wireless communication technology that uses infrared rays as a communication carrier. It generally consists of two parts, the infrared transmitting and receiving system. The transmitting system modulates the infrared radiation and then transmits infrared signals, generally about 0.9μm wavelength infrared rays, using ASK, PPM and other modulation modes, with a transmission rate of 2.4kbps~16Mbps.The receiving system uses optical devices and infrared detectors for reception and demodulation.
Infrared communication is characterized by low cost, short communication distance and high transmission rate. With its strong confidentiality, large information capacity and simple structure, it can be used both indoors and in the field. As it has good directionality, it is suitable for confidential communication between defense border posts and outposts. However, the infrared beam is susceptible to absorption by dust, rain and other substances, so it is susceptible to the influence of the climate when in use and the communication distance is short.
Because of its simple structure, easy to implement, low cost, small size and easy to integrate, infrared communication has been favored by personal array products this year and is widely used in embedded system products. Most of the cell phones are not equipped with infrared transmission function. Infrared function can also be found in digital cameras, printers, PDAs and notebook computers.

Faster frequency hopping and shorter packets than other systems operating in the same frequency band make Bluetooth more stable than any other system.The use of FECs suppresses random noise over long distance links. Frame hopping transceivers applying binary FM technology are used to suppress interference and prevent fading.
