Sapphire Half Ball Lenses
Sapphire half ball lens is a hemispherical optical element based on sapphire (single crystal α-Al₂O₃), combining the physical advantages of sapphire with the focusing/protecting function of hemispherical structure.
Sapphire has ultra-high hardness and is 20 times more scratch-resistant than ordinary glass, making it suitable for high-wear environments. It also has broad-spectrum light transmission covering the UV to IR wavelength bands.
Sapphire half ball lenses can be used for optical focusing, using the curvature of the hemispherical sphere to collimate, focus or couple light beams, such as signal coupling at the fiber optic end face, and for environmental protection, as a protective shield over sensors or lenses against harsh conditions such as high temperatures and dust.al protection, as a protective shield over sensors or lenses against harsh conditions such as high temperatures and dust.
