Achromatic lenses usually consist of two or more lenses of different materials that are precisely processed and bonded to correct aberration, reduce chromatic aberration, etc., in order to improve the optical performance of the entire lens system. In practice, uncoated achromatic lenses may be suitable for applications that do not require high optical performance, or exist as semi-finished products before coating. However, in applications that require high precision and high performance imaging, coated bonded lenses are usually chosen for better optical performance and imaging quality.
